PROMOTION

To promote our event we decided we would make a poster as our main way of publicising the event. Before we made our own we decided to look at other drum and bass events for inspiration.

Grace and I both decided that we didn't like these posters as they were too 'harsh' and mainly focused on the DJs. Although we had good DJs lined up, none of them were actually very well known so they weren't out main point of selling, unlike these events. We decided in our poster we would mainly focus on the genre of music we were playing and the dress up theme. As both of these were jungle we decided to make our poster look like a jungle.

We went for the plain black background to keep it simple but added the leaves and branches to create the jungle effect. The inspiration for the name 'Stacey's room' came from the entertainment service 'Worried about Henry'. There's no meaning behind the name 'Stacey' although we decided to use a name as it adds a personal element, making the company more approachable to future customers.

The actual name of the event 'The Jungle Book' was inspired by the book by Rudyard Kipling. We thought we would use this name to interest people of our own age group and older as it would remind them of their childhood.

However, when we came back from the Christmas holidays we decided we wanted to revamp the poster as we thought it didn't look as professional as it could.

This was the finished design for the poster. We changed it to dark colours to fit with other drum and bass posters but added white text to seem it less harsh. We moved the 'jungle themed dress up' to the middle and put it in a box to emphasise it, as it was one of our main selling points. We also changed and increased the size of the font to make it stand out more.

After finalising the poster, Grace and  I both posted about the event on our social media.
