PLANNING FOR CULTURE MAGANZINE
I confirm that the attached assessment is all my own work and does not include any work completed by anyone other than myself and sources have been appropriately referenced.
Basic idea
The general idea is to do a weekly blog about my life. Funny stories, podcasts and just stuff about being a teenager during a pandemic. I want it to be relatable and easy to read for other people my age. Each blog and podcast will be named after a song. This will create a Spotify playlist which I will I add on my page.
I also want to do a podcast once every two weeks where I chat to a different guest each time. Each podcast will have a different topic of conversation. Each podcast will be about 10-15 minuets long. I want it to be an easy listen, like a casual conversation however talking about important and interesting topics.
The name I have chosen for my page is 'Ellie's corner'. I chose this as it has a friendly feel to it, I want my readers and listeners to feel as if they're listening to a friend and not a formal podcast. I used the word 'corner' as it conveys the idea of a closed space, somewhere comforting.
Equipment
I plan to write each blog post on google docs. I can do this on either my own personal laptop or a college computer. When I have access to the culture channel wix page I’ll upload my blog post. I plan to make a logo for my page, I don't know what this will be yet but I want to make it on photoshop. I can practise my photoshop skills in Darrens lessons on a Friday. There isn't any rush for the logo to be made, I just want it done for the launch date.
To create my podcasts I will need access to a podcast editing software and a microphone. I want to start writing a couple blog posts before I start recording podcasts as I want to get a feel for the blog and what I want to talk about. Each podcast will have a general topic of conversation which I will try and keep too. Before each podcast I'm going to write down questions and different things I want to make sure I cover in the podcast.
Research/ inspiration
My main inspiration for this idea was from Grace and Indy. They had said how many funny stories and anecdotes I have from over my teenage years. This made me think that I should do something with them. I want to incorporate living in a pandemic as a teenager into these blogs to make them relatable to the readers. My aim is to end each story with what I have learnt from the experience and how this can help the readers too.
A podcast I listen to regularly and is also what inspired me for this blog is called ‘Call her Daddy’. Two women for New York basically just talk about their problems and give each other advice on how to deal with it. It’s very funny and a massive hit with girls my age.
Since knowing I was going to start my own, I decided to listen to some more podcasts. This helped me decide what I liked listening to and what I didn't. Here are some of the podcasts I found and learnt from:
-
Goal digger- Jenna Kutcher
-
The Broad Experience- Ashley Milne-Tyte
-
Call Your Girlfriend- Aminatou Sow and Ann Friedman
-
Stuff Mom Never Told You- Anney and Samantha
Podcast ideas
I want each podcast to be about a specific topic which will have been effected by covid. During each podcast I want to discuss the topic and how it has been changed by covid. Each topic will be something that people of my age can relate to.
-
Birthdays (Pilot)
-
Politics (more specific in future)
-
Relationships
-
Working/ Money (Part time jobs and College)
-
What you wanted to be when you were younger

Blog post ideas
Each blog will follow the same idea as the podcasts. They will have a specific topic which I will discuss with my own personal stories.
