SWOT ANALYSIS

STRENGTHS-

  • The aesthetic of my page is clear and I stick to it, this is more appealing to the eye and making it more interesting to readers. 

  • The content I make is of a high standard and I would never post anything If I wouldn't listen to it personally. 

  • I have a key target audience and use my own knowledge and research to help me make content which I know my target audience will enjoy.

  • I use my own personal understanding and knowledge of how the world of social media works to get my page across to as many people as possible.

WEAKNESS-

  • The amount of material I have produced over the course of doing MET connect isn't as much as I would like it to be. The inconsistency of posting will hinder the amount of followers and readers I gain.

  • The podcasts aren't as long as I would like them to be. Out of my competitors, the average podcast is over 30 mins long. To improve I need to make my podcasts longer, I'll do this by planning more in-depth so there's more to talk about. 

  • I've been finding it extremely hard to work at home during the national lockdown. Not only is it very demotivating being stuck in my house, I have to do the podcasts by myself. This isn't what I originally planned so it's quite disheartening. 

OPPORTUNITIES-

  • Although there is a lockdown, I am able to record podcasts over zoom or zencastr. This means I can start to record podcasts with guests like I had planned. The only difficulty with this is making sure both people have a laptop. 

  • By being the same age as my target audience, I can use this to my advantage as I know what is 'In' at the moment. This allows me to cater my podcast and page to what I know will attract viewers. 

  • After having online zoom lessons with outside of college guests, I was very much inspired by the work they do. Hopefully in the future I will have the opportunity to work with them. 

THREATS-

  • Covid-19 is the biggest threat to my podcast. Not only does it restrict what I can make, it also had a massive effect on my mental health and work rate. This makes trying to make content very hard. 

  • Another threat is competition. There are a lot of new podcasts at the moment, some of which are similar to mine. I need to find a way to really stand out. 

  • The uncertainty of which way the pandemic is going to go is another threat. This means its hard to make plans and progress with Ellie's corner.
