I confirm that the attached assessment is all my own work and does not include any work completed by anyone other than myself and sources have been appropriately referenced.
YOUTUBE INSPIRATION
Before I started planning my video ideas, I wanted to see what I could find on youtube to inspire me. Youtube is a great tool as not only is it a platform for great content but you can gage peoples opinions easily by looking at the comment section. This will give me an idea if the interviewing style is not only entertaining for me, but for my audience as well.
I really like 'googles most asked questions' interview concept as it can work with any musical. This means I could use this idea twice and still create two very different videos. It will also help with musicals I don't know as well as others.
Works with one person or multiple
Sat round a table (easy set up)
Questions written on cards or peely thing
A good way to show the actors personalities and their opinion on the film
As seen from likes and comments, fans enjoy this content.
This sort of question format really brings the Hunger Games universe to life. It allows fans to see the actors opinions on different topics, which is interesting as it separates the actor from their character.
'Would you rather' questions can work with any musical and the questions can vary from serious too funny. There is also no right or wrong answer so actors can really delve into creative scenarios with their responses.
Name that song is a competitive interview game which is popular across youtube. With it being a competition it makes it funnier and adds a fast pace element to the video.
I could change it to 'finish the lyric' this allows viewers to try and join in as well.
Would also work perfectly when interviewing musical theatre students as they will all want to win as its their role to know the songs.
I like this idea as it allows for viewers to be involved with the video as they can do the quiz themselves as well. It is enjoyable watching that cast the discuss and react to the quiz.
This idea would only work for me if I could find an online quiz/game about one of the musicals. Buzzfeed (https://www.buzzfeed.com/uk/quizzes) has a lot of quizzes on their page so could potentially be a helpful resource.
This video idea also requires a laptop or mobile device to do the quiz on. I could use my laptop however it would mean only one person could do the quiz at a time.
This sort of question format requires knowledge about the world surrounding the film/musical. As some students are only doing a musical as a solo they might not know anything about it apart from their song.
Using picture prompts could work if the musical is extremely well known or has a film re make. I could use this video as inspiration but change the idea to make it work as a solid interview for the musical theatre students.
PRIMARY RESEARCH

I went to look at the two potential filming areas I was considering. The first was the white background photography studio. I liked this area as there was already lights available to use and camera stands set up. Using this studio will save me a lot of time as I can book it for as long as I need with the equipment already there. The plain white background adds a clean and professional element to the videos, something of which I am after. Although the background width isn't as long as I thought it would be so I need to do a test shoot to see if everything will fit. I also need to go back to the studio and do a test recording to asses if I need microphones or not. The camera microphone may work however I want to test it out before I start filming, anything I want to use in the final videos. Whilst visiting the studio I noticed there was also black and green background studios next door. I didn't know these existed when considering my options so I am going to look at these as well sometime in the future.
The second potential filming location I looked at was the theatre stage. I thought this would be a good filming location as you see the musical theatre students where they belong rather than a studio. However once I arrived I realised booking the theatre would be too complicated as my filming schedule would clash with the end of year plays.
I knew I wanted to record each video using my phone, as it has a good camera and I can easily access the footage if I need at anytime. I went back to the studio as I had doubts about how the footage would sound as the room is rather echoey.
I recorded a test video of Grace and Indy having a normal conversation. As you can hear in the video the sound isn't great from just using my phone to record. Instead, I will now use clip on microphones to record the sound instead of my phone microphone. I tried to book these microphones from the technicians but they said they don't have a booking scheme, however they will be available for me to use.
VIDEO 1 RESEARCH
Googles most answered questions usually consists of popular questions starting with who, what, where, when and is. I googled each of these with 'musical theatre' on the end to see which questions I liked the most.

VIDEO 2 RESEARCH
I started my planning for video 2 by researching different musical theatre 'would you rather' questions. I didn't know if i wanted to use these questions specifically or just use them for inspiration.

I found numerous websites, as pictured and linked below, using these websites I copied or used questions to inspire me of my own.
