EPISODE 2
Planning
For my next episode I wanted to talk about all the stuff going on in USA. I find American culture very interesting and with all the stuff going on in the news I thought now would be the perfect time to do an episode on it.
For the podcast I mainly wanted to discuss the current political situation in America. I'm going to call the podcast 'Party in the USA' after the Miley Cyrus song. I'm also going to add this song to the Ellie's corner playlist. Topics I want ti discuss:
- Trump: 2nd impeachment, leaving office, twitter and social media suspended.
- Capitol riots- discuss my opinions on this and the clear difference between this and BLM
- Biden: already undoing what trump did, actually dealing with corona.
-End with kim and kanye divorce
For my blog post I wanna talk about my holiday to New York City.
-What I did
-How i felt when i was there, different emotions
-what i want to do when i go back
Include pictures of my travels at bottom. This blog post is going to be called empire state of mind. I will also add this song to my spotify playlist.
Podcast evaluation
I really enjoyed doing this podcast. I felt as if I covered a new topic that I hadn't spoken about before. Talking about a new topic might broaden my audience and build a bigger following.
Doing a podcast by myself was hard as It meant I had to speak constantly and always know what to say. I think this is good practise for future recordings however I want to make sure all my upcoming podcasts have guests.
I visited New York city in February 2018. New York is one of those places you hear about all the time as you’re growing up. See it in films, read about it in books and every time you hear about it, it’s spoken about with such awe that you think ‘Surely it isn’t that amazing.’
I was going on holiday with my family for my mum's birthday. I was 16 at the time and at that age going away with your family isn’t number one on the list of things you love to do. However, it was New York so how could I not be excited. I remember seeing NYC from the sky as we were about to land and I understood why New york was so famous. There’s just something about it that's so amazing. Here are some of my favourite places that made me fall in love with New York.
The next time you find yourself in Midtown, take a moment to walk through Grand Central Terminal. This bustling hub is the closest you’ll get to NYC’s illustrious past. With its classic architecture, ticking clocks, and grand staircases, the main concourse seems frozen in time. And the celestial domed ceiling is so dazzling that even the most cynical New Yorkers fall prey to its magic.
Pack a picnic lunch and head to NYC’s most famous park for the day. Some activities you can do on your visit include paddle boating, visiting Belvedere Castle, lounging in Sheep Meadow, and meandering through the Conservatory Garden. You’ll see just why the majestic beauty of this entirely man-made urban park has been a source of pride for residents since it opened to the public in 1858.
Stepping through the front door of Jimmy’s Corner felt as if I had mistakenly landed on a New York movie set. This West 44th Street tavern sits mere steps from the frenzy of Times Square, yet it’s a world away from the bright lights and throngs of tourists.
The narrow saloon is adorned with dollar bills, multi-colored Christmas lights, and pictures of boxing legends like Muhammad Ali––it’s one of the few true dive bars left in Manhattan. I’d heard about this hole-in-the-wall many times, so I knew it was only a matter of time until I made it to Jimmy’s Corner.
Blog evaluation
I really enjoyed writing this blog as it allowed me to remember my holiday in New York. I also did more research into the places I went which made it like a trip down memory lane. I'm starting to run out of ideas for the blogs I think I might stop doing them and start putting more work into the podcasts. I find the blog posts not as interesting and captivating as the podcasts.
